We’ve rounded the corner into the second half of 2017, so it’s time to take stock of what Geosynthetica’s readers have made our most popular geosynthetics stories. Last year was the publication’s biggest year in overall unique readers and in page views, and 2017 has sustained that momentum. We are currently trending another 18% higher on 2016 and 65% greater than in this same period in 2015. (Not bad for 17-year-old site!) Clearly, geosynthetics have a firm footing in the civil engineering field’s everyday discussions and information gathering process.
For 2017, at least one story from each month has earned a spot in the top 10. These stories include companies with headquarters in Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Italy, the Netherlands, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States. They are as diverse as our audience. We summarize the trends below, as well as provide the list, links to the stories, and credit to the companies featured.

2017 TRENDS, MOST POPULAR GEOSYNTHETICS STORIES
Mechanically stabilized earth walls continue to grab attention. MSE walls were one of the most popular topics in 2016, and the trend has continued into this year with the three most-read stories all focusing on geosynthetic reinforcement in structures.
The business of geosynthetics has also been the focus of some of the most popular geosynthetics stories, with three of the 10 most-read centered on the establishment of a new manufacturing venture, a large acquisition, and a product dumping case.
Lining technologies have grabbed two of the top 10 spots too, with articles on minimizing wrinkles in geomembrane installations and one very big GCCM project.
Software again lands among the most popular geosynthetics stories, but in this instance we took a different approach and focused on smartphone apps. It was well received and we look forward to updating that story in the near future as more companies develop apps and recommend others.
Not to be overlooked, polymeric matting technologies continue to surge in interest. A video story from Down Under makes the list here.
