Hardrock Mining and Reclamation

A new bill stipulates that future hardrock mining site operators in the US must post a bond to cover cleanup costs before new mining will be allowed. The move is an effort to prevent companies from declaring bankruptcy after concluding operations, an all-too-common move that leaves the cleanup costs on the EPA. More than 60 Superfund projects are hardrock mining sites.
