11TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON GEOSYNTHETICS HIGHLIGHTS
The Korean Geosynthetics Society (KGSS), which is the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS) Korea Chapter, will host 11ICG. The organizers have lined up numerous high-quality keynote speakers, including Dr. Nathalie Touze-Foltz (Irstea) for the prestigious Giroud Lecture. She will be joined in the keynote program but lecturers including Prof. R. Kerry Rowe (Queen’s University), Prof. Martin Ziegler (RWTH Aachen University), Prof. Jorge G. Zornberg (The University of Texas at Austin), Prof. Neil Dixon (Loughborough University), and Prof. Jiro Kuwano (Saitama University).
Two short courses will be offered in Seoul: Basal Reinforced Piled Embankments and a course on Introduction and Mechanisms for Geosynthetic-Stabilized Roads. In addition, the conference offers a full schedule of training lectures and technical sessions, as well as meetings of IGS Technical Committees and technical visits to Korean geosynthetics-related companies and organizations.
In his welcome and invitation letter, 11ICG Conference Chair and IGS Vice President Prof. Chungsik Yoo writes, “A wealth of scientific programs has been prepared that will feature a wide selection of experts from geotechnical and geosynthetics professions.11ICG participants will be able to take advantage of a total of 63 sessions.”
Prof. Yoo is also President of the Korean Geosynthetics Society.
“The organizing committee has been working to build a solid, collaborative network with our sponsors and exhibitors, with unique opportunities available to showcase your products and services,” he writes. “With 3,645 square meters of exhibition space and about 100 companies expected, the 11ICG will be one of the largest gatherings of geosynthetics professionals in the world. [Furthermore], our social events will offer festive moments for us to come together in a congenial atmosphere. Fine cuisine and inspiring entertainment will compose our receptions and dinners to reward ourselves of our efforts and accomplishments.
