Strata Systems Inc is a manufacturer of advanced soil reinforcement products with global distribution and technical resources to meet the challenging and changing dynamics of any site development including highway, municipal, commercial and residential projects. Strata provides innovative systems and technology that provide economic advantages while ensuring structural integrity and sound engineering principles.
The StrataSlope, StrataWall and Strata Embankment systems provide the technical basis and economic solution to severe topographic challenges, problematic soil conditions, and land development needs. The Strata “systems” incorporate high quality, knitted geogrid materials with various face treatments that address long-term structural stability, erosion, and aesthetics.
Strata Systems geosynthetics reinforce soils in a wide variety of applications, including retaining walls, reinforced steep slopes, highway and rail embankments, landslide repairs, landfills, dams, levees, temporary walls, and other applications.
Florida DOT Uses Geocell for Reinforcement
A new video from Strata Systems demonstrates how geocell is used to reinforce an unpaved highway shoulder for the Florida Department of Transportation (DOT). The installation was completed where soft soils destabilized the roadside shoulder at a bridge approach. A 6-ounce nonwoven geotextile was placed, followed by StrataWeb 30, a medium weight geocell with a 4-inch depth. By using geocell and stone fill, the Florida DOT provided a safe, solid shoulder, without the expense of paving.
Stratagrid® is a precision knitted geogrid that offers superior junction strength and a high coefficient of soil interaction. Stratagrid® is made with high molecular weight and high tenacity polyester yarns and knitted into a dimensionally stable network of apertures providing tensile reinforcement both machine- and cross-directionally. A proprietary UV-stabilized saturated coating is then applied to Stratagrid®, further strengthening the geogrid. Stratagrid®'s coating process exposes the polyester fiber to much lower temperatures than other coated geosynthetics, thereby minimizing fiber degradation. Stratagrid® is also available with a smaller aperture size as Microgrid® and is used a secondary reinforcement method in steep slopes and as slope facing reinforcement.
Sleeve-It™ is the pre-engineered solution for building fence-ready, code compliant retaining walls. Fence and handrails installed in the Sleeve-It™ system directly behind the wall unit will meet the International Building Code requirements. The Sleeve-It™ system uses a cantilever design to engage the overlying soil mass, providing resistance to the fence load. For the past twenty years installing fence directly behind a segmental retaining wall has been problematic. Today, Sleeve-It™ has the solution. The Sleeve-It™ system provides both ease of installation and structural integrity that is code compliant.
StrataDrain™ is a high flow, fusion-bonded, geonet/geotextile drainage composite which aids in the drainage of many soil and foundation reinforcement applications. StrataDrain™ can be used as a wick drain in embankments, an underdrain in foundations, an inceptor drain in slopes and as a wall drain for both foundation and retaining walls.
The strength and uniformity of the fusion bond between StrataDrain™'s layers makes them highly resistant to layer separation. StrataDrain™ has excellent hydraulic performance and minimizes a project's potential for failure planes, caused by the fabric portion of the composite sliding on the drainage core.
New Manufacturing Facility Shows India’s Rise in Geosynthetics
India’s fast-developing economy and large population places extra pressure on the nation to execute large-scale infrastructure development. The resulting investment in roadways, railways, power-grid expansion, and water resources creates a strong market for geosynthetics domestically. Bolstered by these projects, India has also become a center for geosynthetics production, both for local use and ... »

With Strata Geosystems, he has been a key piece of the company’s on-going expansion in international markets. The company’s growth has been significant enough that to support it Strata has invested in a new state-of-the-art production faci... »
Strata Enhances Grade Slab Support at Its New Manufacturing Facility
Strata Geosystems has steadily expanded its presence around the world in geosynthetics. To further expand its offerings and delivery times, the company established a new manufacturing facility in Gujarat, India; and, it enhanced the grade slab support with its own materials. Chiefly, Strataweb® geocells. The 150,000 ft.2 Western India site will house next-generation machinery and automation proces... »
Reinforced Soil Wall Supports 1000-Ton Crane Working Platform
The Elan Valley Aqueduct (EVA) is an important part of the water supply for Birmingham City (Wales) and its surrounding area. The principal structure is 100 years old. The 120 km long EVA discharges 300 million liters of water per day in the Frankley Water Treatment Works (WTW), supplying 1.2 million people with potable water and future reserves in the event of emergency. When Severn Trent Water d... »
Better Bearing Capacity for Container Yard on Geocells
Constructing on weak subgrade is always a challenge, but geosynthetics provide high-quality, efficient, and economical solutions. An exemplary case can be found in the busy city of Kolkata, India, where a logistics company needed to improve a weak subgrade at the site of a new container yard. Geocells provided the answer. ALLCARGO LOGISTICS Ltd.’s container yard was to be located at Kidderpore Doc... »
