Geosynthetic
Clay Liners (GCLs) - CETCO Geosynthetic Clay Liners (GCLs) are
high performance environmental liners comprised of geosynthetic
carrier components bonded to a layer of low-permeability Volclay® sodium
bentonite.
Claymax®200R is
a non-reinforced GCL with two lightweight nonwoven geotextiles encapsulating
a layer of Volclay® sodium bentonite. Ideally
suited for mild slopes, Claymax 200R maximizes both performance and
value in one ingeniously straightforward product. A completely self-seaming
GCL, there's simply no better GCL than Claymax 200R for lining the
flat
areas of a landfill.
Claymax® 600CL is
a non-reinforced GCL consisting of two lightweight geotextiles encapsulating
a layer of Volclay sodium bentonite with a
composite laminate applied to one of the geotextiles. CLAYMAX 600CL is
the ideal solution for flat areas of landfill caps and high hydraulic
head conditions in bottom liner applications.
Bentomat® ST is
a reinforced GCL consisting of a layer of Volclay® sodium
bentonite encapsulated between two geotextiles, needlepunched together
for maximum performance under a wide variety of field conditions. This
integrated matrix of bentonite and needlepunced fibers provides high
shear strength and allows Bentomat to maintain low permeability. Bentomat
ST has a woven, slit-film upper geotextile for maximizing intimate contact
in composite liner systems.
Bentomat® DN is a reinforced needlepunched GCL that not only has high internal shear
strength, but also provides excellent interface friction
on both sides of the GCL. Bentomat DN is ideally suited for steep-slope
liner/cover systems where intimate geomembrane contact is less critical
than overall liner system stability.
Bentomat® SDN is a reinforced needlepunched GCL that encapsulates a layer of Volclay
sodium bentonite between two nonwoven geotextiles
needlepunched together for high internal shear strength and good interface
friction performances. Bentomat SDN may be a cost effective alternative
for steep slope liner/cover systems where overall liner system stability
is important.
Bentomat® CL is a reinforced GCL composed of two carrier geotextiles needlepunched
together to encapsulate a layer of Volclay sodium bentonite.
A composite lamination gives the GCL excellent hydraulic performance
and provides puncture and tensile strengths beyond conventional plastic
membranes. Bentomat CL is ideal for landfills, ponds, surface impoundments
and other containment projects.
Bentomat® CLT is
a reinforced GCL consisting of a layer of Volclay® sodium
bentonite between two geotextiles, which are needlepunched together and
laminated with a flexible textured HDPE sheet. The addition of the HDPE
sheet to the GCL increases the hydraulic resistance by an order of magnitude
over that of standard GCLs. The textured surface of the HDPE sheet also
increases the interface friction between the GCL and adjacent substrate
when a greater interface friction is required on certain projects. This
product is mainly used in liquid containment and landfill cap applications,
but the versatility of the product allows it to be considered in many
other applications.
Geomembrane
-
In addition to liners for engineered applications, CETCO is also introducing
Akwaguard® Pond Liners to complement the existing Akwaseal® Pond
Liners introduced in 2005. The Akwaguard® liners are prefabricated
PVC panels, while the Akwaseal® Liners are a two-in-one system
incorporating both sodium bentonite clay and geomembrane water
barriers.
Akwaseal® Pond
Liners provide superior water containment with unmatched longevity.
Akwaseal® is made
with two water barriers: Bentonite Clay and a Flexible Plastic Membrane
The bentonite clay is
sandwiched between two
textiles which are needle punched together. The membrane is permanently
laminated to the outer textile surface. The result is an easy-to-install,
self-healing, self-seaming liner requiring little maintenance. The swelling
properties of the bentonite clay and cushioning of the textiles eliminate
the need for seam welding and underlayments.
Akwaguard® liners
are prefabricated
PVC panels for engineered liner systems for waste and liquid containment
applications. These geomembranes provide performance, installation, and
price benefits over other alternative geomembranes in applications such
as landfill caps, animal waste lagoons, and wastewater treatment facilities.
Volclay® Soil
Sealants - are granular sodium bentonite products that provide economical,
low-permeability soil liners for a wide variety of containment
applications. Volclay soil sealants swell 10-15 times their dry
volume when wetted, filling soil voids and impeding water flow.
Volclay® CG-50 is a
high-swelling, low dust, granular sodium bentonite used for soil-bentonite
liner applications where it
is necessary to minimize
dust generation. CG-50 is designed for general sealing applications
that do not require contamination resistance. Applications include ponds,
lagoons, and tank farms.
Volclay® CP-200 is a high-swelling powder
grade sodium bentonite used for soil-bentonite liners where dust generation
is not a problem.
CP-200 is designed for general sealing applications that require limited
contamination resistance. Applications include landfill liners, landfill
caps, ponds, lagoons, and tank farms. Volclay CP-200 meets API Specification
13A, making it useful for slurry trenching.
Volclay® TG-50 is a chemically treated, high-swelling,
granular sodium bentonite used for soil-bentonite liners where high-contamination
exists that can subject untreated clays to degradation. Applications
include landfill liners, landfill caps, wastewater lagoons and industrial
waste lagoons.
Volclay® SG-40 is a polymer treated, high-swelling
granular sodium bentonite for improved efficiency in soil-bentonite
liners for water
containment applications. Because SG-40 application rates are lower than
untreated bentonite, it provides greater economy than untreated bentonite.
Volclay® CC-8 "Crumbles" is
a high-swelling, large coarse-granular sodium bentonite used to help
seal leaks in existing
ponds, lagoons,
tank farms and reservoirs. It is sprinkled over existing water, where
it sinks to the bottom and decreases the water leakage.
Geocomposite -
TexDrain Geocomposites are designed to provide high capacity planar
flow of liquids, with integrated protection
from clogging. These high quality geotextiles resist clogging of
the geonet core by soil particles while protecting
adjacent geomembranes from damage. TexDrain’s high strength
core is also available in different thickness
profiles to provide a wide range of performance attributes.
TexDrain is used as a cost effective replacement for granular
drainage and gas venting systems. In cover systems,
TexDrain will inhibit the accumulation of pore-water pressure above the
barrier layer by providing a high capacity
flow path for the drainage of excess liquids. Additionally, TexDrain
may be used as a component of a gas
venting system below the barrier layer, to prevent gas build up - whether
generated from contained waste or
from underlying soils. In bottom liner systems, TexDrain may be used
as a replacement for a granular leachate
collection system, or underneath the primary liner as the leak detection
layer.
