The Geosynthetic Institute’s Drs. Bob Koerner and George Koerner will lead a special online short course 3 – 5 October 2017 on QA/QC of Geosynthetics in Waste Containment Facilities. Worth 8 PDHs, the course will take place in two 90-minute blocks on each day (11:00 am – 12:30 pm and 2:00 – 3:30 pm.
QA/QC OF GEOSYNTHETICS IN WASTE CONTAINMENT FACILITIES
This online course is focused on the quality assurance and quality control of geosynthetics as utilized in permanent and/or critical waste containment applications. Specifications and testing are emphasized and demonstrated accordingly. It focuses on both the manufactured geosynthetics and on the installation processes. Applications are mainly in the waste containment area (e.g., landfills and surface impoundments), but applicability to ponds/reservoirs, canals, shale gas plays, coal combustion residuals, heap leach pads, etc., are also addressed.
The six presentation will target:
- Waste issues, regulations and geosynthetics
- Geomembrane manufacturing, specifications and testing
- Geomembrane placement and field testing
- Geosynthetic clay liners
- Geosynthetic drainage systems
- Other geosynthetics, clay liners and documentation
The course provides the latest information on manufacturing and installation of all types of geosynthetics. It follows closely the U.S. EPA Technical Guidance Document (EPA/600R-93/18) of the same title as the course. Included are manufacturing QA and QC, as well as construction QA and QC. The course is very descriptive with numerous example situations, case histories, and test methods/procedures. Power point slides of the entire course are provided.
Course Registration Fee:
- GSI Members – $750
- Non Members – $1,000
GSI Certification: If certification under the Geosynthetic Certification Institute – Inspectors Certification Program (GCI-ICP) is desired, a separate registration and examination is required. See www.geosynthetic-institute.org/applications.htm or contact Jamie Koerner at firstname.lastname@example.org for details.0
