DESCRIPTION

Utilizing a deep understanding of polymer processing, polymer science and material properties the ideal candidate will design and develop innovative new products, lead and direct Research & Development and Quality Assurance efforts and assist sales and marketing in product launches. This innovative leader will also serve as a resource to sales and service representatives for technical information.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Advanced degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or Material Science
  • Five plus years of experience in Research and Development activities for the development of new products related to blown and cast films
  • Good knowledge of polyolefin resins and their use in coextrusion and lamination processes
  • Advanced knowledge of polymers, including but not limited to LLDPE, HDPE, PP, Nylon, EVOH and additives
  • The ability to stay updated on new advances in the industry
  • Ability to give technical advice at senior level regarding product design and development
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

We are currently looking for a Senior Technical Manager.

DESCRIPTION

The Senior Technical Manager is expected to support the Americas & Europe Sales team in supporting, developing and expanding the clientele and market coverage with the help of the Technical and marketing departments to our existing and potential customers, consultants, contractors and authorities.

As such, she/he will be responsible for the technical commercialization of Solmax International’s products. She/He will give technical presentations to our customers and to engineers to promote the sales of our main products as well as the new products. She/He will maintain and coordinate all technical communications necessary to ensure that the product offered will meet customer’s expectations. She/He will work on technical recommendations when requested. She/He will be responsible for the writing of marketing case studies and technical brochures. She/He will support the implementation strategy for new products and will continuously look for new technical ideas which may bring about new specifications or products to be developed by the technical department and then commercialized by the sales department.

She/He will organize and participate in regular and "brown bag" seminars and will write technical papers to be published in order to enhance the technical visibility of Solmax in the Industry.

She/He may also be responsible for internal training of the sales force.

She/He accepts, follows and represents Solmax’s values and defends the interest of the company in conjunction with the interests of the customers. She/He will maintain a superior level of service by providing customers with any information that they might require. She/He is responsible for the follow up of the complaints with the sales representative and the customer, going on site if necessary, to support them finding a solution with the engineers/end users. When appropriate, she/he will establish coordination with the technical department for solutions.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND AND PREREQUISITE

  • Master degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or Bachelor degree with relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years in civil/geotechnical engineering.
  • Knowledge in geosynthetic applications (5 years).
  • Technical sales experience (5 years).
  • Ability to integrate and use technical knowledge.
  • Mastery of French and English (written and spoken).
  • Other languages (Spanish, Mandarin) or dialects would be an added advantage.
  • Good public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Good experience in maintaining relationship with customers.
  • Organized, motivated, honest.

** Must be available to travel (maximum 30% of the time)
